Australian defence chief decorated

President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon the Australian Chief of Defence, Air Chief Marshal Allen Grant (Angus) Houston, at a special investiture ceremony held at the Presidency.
He has been decorated with the military medal in recognition of his contribution in promoting mutual understanding and goodwill between the two armed forces. Later, he called on President Zardari, who appreciated the role of Australia in the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) forum and providing humanitarian assistance worth A $28million for the IDPs since August 2008. He welcomed enhancement of development assistance to A$120 million over two years and offer of scholarships to Pakistani nationals by the Australian government in various fields.
