According to Variety.com, Roberts will be playing the role of a lawyer defending Darius McCollum, a criminal charged for impersonating public transit authorities in order to drive away subway trains and buses. McCollum will be a patient of Asperger’s syndrome who has been arrested over 25 times previously for similar crimes. Roberts’ character would be his most recent lawyer.
The script for Train Man has been written by Simon Stephenson, while the position of the director remains vacant as of now. The film is reportedly being produced by Gotham Group, with Roberts potentially serving as a co-producer as well. “It is a meaty role for Roberts, along the lines of her Oscar-winning portrait in 2000’s Erin Brockovich,” said a source. Creative Artists Agency (CAA) is packaging the project and handling US sales and FilmNation will be managing the international sales.
