KARACHI: The business community associated with the auto industry has expressed concerns over delay in the announcement of auto policy. Mehran Commercial Executive Director Ghazanfar Ali Khan called for early announcement of the new policy to promote investment in the sector. He said the delay was making investors reluctant as the policy has remained pending since 2011. Ghazanfar said that there was a demand of 250,000 vehicles per year, while the local industry was only manufacturing 150,000 units. Ghazanfar, who is also chairman of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) committee on the auto industry, dispelled the impression that there were any differences among auto-manufacturers. At present, around 2.5 million people are associated with the industry and investment in this sector will create new jobs, he said.
