PM gives nod to Green Pakistan
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the launch of a ‘Green Pakistan Programme’ aimed at the protection and management of wildlife, as well as reclaiming and developing forests.
All relevant federal and provincial ministries and agencies will be facilitated in conserving forest and wildlife resources in line with the best international practices.
Green project: ‘Park extension to be completed within year’
The initiative will ensure far-reaching reforms in assessment of forests depletion, use of modern technology and development of immediate and long-term forest resource expansion.
The prime minister has directed the climate change ministry to develop a proposal for strengthening the zoological survey department to immediately compile an inventory of endangered wildlife species and habitats across Pakistan.
Recreation and education: History museum planned at Iqbal Park
The prime minister has also issued directions for revival and management of internationally recognised wildlife habitats.
