Foiling basant: Police arrest 259 for kite flying

RAWALPINDI: Police arrested 259 persons for kite flying as cantt areas celebrated the banned Basant (spring festival) on Friday. Vide spread violations were witnessed despite official warnings against celebrating the festival. Police arrested 259 violators, mostly young boys running after kites. Most were let off the hook for Rs5,000 each. The festival will be celebrated in rest of the city next Friday.
