ISLAMABAD:

While taking notice of installation of towers of cellular phone companies in residential areas in Islamabad, the interior minister has order the Federal Investigation Agency ((FIA) to probe allegations that they had been installed illegally.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has also ordered the FIA to take into account the negative impact of radio waves emitted from the towers on human health. He directed the FIA to probe why towers were allowed to be installed in “inappropriate places”, said a press release issued on Friday.

The minister has asked the FIA to submit an initial report in a week’s time while identifying the names of officials and their facilitators guilty of “criminal negligence.”
