LG elections: Polling for 76 general seats in Punjab on March 21

The Election Commission of Pakistan has asked the intending candidates to file nomination papers by March 7

The Election Comission of Pakistan on Wednesday announced that polling for 76 general seats of local governments in different districts of Punjab will be held on March 21.


Elections for some of these seats were postponed due to death of contestants. In majority cases no one filed nomination papers in these local government constituencies during last year’s elections held in three phases in the province.


Most of the seats are in districts Mianwali, Faisalabad, Kasure, Okara and Lahore. Others are in Chakwal, Jhelum, Khushab, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Sialkot, Nankana Sahib, Multan, D G Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan districts.


The Election Commission of Pakistan has asked the intending candidates to file nomination papers by March 7.
