Two convicts acquitted
Following the verdict, the convicts’ families had filed an appeal at the LHC Rawalpindi Bench
RAWALPINDI:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Tuesday acquitted two persons on death row of murder charges.
An additional district and session judge had sentenced Dil Faraz and Jamshed to death on two counts and fined Rs100,000 each in 2009 for their alleged involvement in firing at a bus.
Two passengers were killed and 25 others were injured in the firing at the bus en-route to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from Kahuta in 2007.
Following the verdict, the convicts’ families had filed an appeal at the LHC Rawalpindi Bench.
A two-judge bench comprising justice Qazi Muhammad Amin and Justice Raja Shahid Abbasi heard the appeal of the convicts on Tuesday.
After hearing the counsel’s arguments, the court acquitted the convicts.
