Status upgrade: ICG F-7/2 to be made university

Second phase of education reforms to begin in the capital soon.

ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has prepared a plan to upgrade the Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-7/2 branch, into a university.

This was said by Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the minister of state for CADD, at a naat and qirat competition at the college here on Tuesday.

He also apprised the audience that 200 schools and colleges of the federal capital would be upgraded within the next 6 to 8 months under the second phase of the Prime Minister’s Education Reforms Programme; and new teachers would also be recruited. He said that in the last phase, the remaining 200 schools would be upgraded. He said that in the first phase of the programme, 22 public education institutions were established.


He further said that a training program for capital’s teaching staff would soon be initiated to improve the quality of education. He cited lack of education as a major contributor towards country’s problems. He appreciated the incumbent government for promoting education on a priority basis.

He also said the federal government was also focusing on the health sector and upgrade the capital’s hospitals.
