KARACHI:

Reigning champions Diamond Paints will begin their defence of the National Open Polo Championship when the two-week-long tournament kicks off at the Lahore Polo Club on Wednesday.

While Diamond Paints will definitely be the team to beat, Pakistan’s top player, Hissam Ali Hyder is confident his side, Master Paints/Habib Metro, has what it takes to outfight its five rivals and become the new champion.

Talking up his side’s quality, Hyder told The Express Tribune, “Our team is doing well and we will be making sure that we do not make mistakes.”

He further highlighted the event’s significance by saying, “If we win National Championship everything else is forgiven as the
rest of the season really doesn’t hold much importance.”
