Playing with public health: Slaughter houses raided

The substandard meat was reportedly brought to the slaughter house from Jhang

ISLAMABAD: In the ongoing campaign against adulteration and substandard food in the federal capital, Islamabad administration today raided a recently established chiller/suspected slaughter house in the area of Noon Police Station and seized 2,000 kilogramme of substandard, unsafe, stinking and water-infused meat. The meat was brought to the place for its onwards distribution to the federal capital, Rawalpindi District and adjoining areas. The substandard meat was reportedly brought to the slaughter house from Jhang. After due inspection and declaration of the veterinary doctor regarding the meat being of extremely poor quality and unsafe for human consumption, 10 butchers and workers were taken into custody and unhygienic meat was confiscated and later destroyed as per the procedure.
