KARACHI:
Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) claimed on Thursday to have apprehended six street criminals from Clifton and Defence Housing Authority areas.
Speaking at a press conference at the headquarters of Abdullah Shah Ghazi Wing 72, wing commander Colonel Akif Hussain said the suspects were apprehended during a targeted raid in Defence and Clifton on Wednesday night. The suspects were identified as Imran alias Jumma Afghani, Jahanzeb, Shafqat Khan, Mohammad Saqib alias Sanki, Kamran Afghani and Sohail alias Shah Jee.
Hussain alleged that the suspects were involved in various criminal activities, from mobile and motorcycle snatching to drug peddling. He said Imran was running his own 'snatching group' with Sohail while the rest were involved in mobile snatching. He added that Khan used to sell a drug known as 'ice baby' in Clifton and Defence.
Saqib operated a biker gang that was also involved in various targeted killings, claimed Hussain, who also revealed that the suspect provided bike riders to various criminal groups to carry out their activities.
The official thanked the city's residents for providing credible information on criminal activities. "The raids would not be possible if we did not receive information regarding criminals through our helpline."
