ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Computer Association (PCA) has submitted proposals and a data sheet to the government for incorporating them in the upcoming budget for 2016-17, aimed at further promoting the information technology sector in the country. The tax policy proposals focus on withdrawal of some taxes and imposition of fixed duties and taxes on IT products. These measures are to encourage legal imports of IT products and removal of GST charges, so that the industry is provided with a level-playing field. The data sheet shows proposed fixed charges applied on respective products to give yearly, quarterly and monthly estimates of the cost to discourage smuggling. It also shows that the fixed duties if applied on each item will net the government a revenue of over Rs5 billion.
