PESHAWAR:

Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan said the government was fully aware of problems faced by elected representatives of the local government. Their problems would be addressed soon, added the minister.

He said this at a ceremony held in honour of those who lobbied for the Local Government Act 2013, a handout issued on Friday stated.

“Due to the Local Government Act 2013, powers have been devolved to the grass-roots level; the problems of people are being solved at their doorsteps,” the handout quoted him as saying.

He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, and said it was because of him and the efforts of his party that the dream of good governance in the province was coming true. “The incumbent K-P government believes in the process of reward and punishment in its departments,” he said. “If a work environment is not conducive to employees, one cannot expect them to perform properly.”

Those who were given certificates included former secretary for finance Syed Said Badshah Bukhari, Accountant General K-P Taimur Khusro and Special Secretary for Finance Kamran Rehman Khan, among others.
