FAISALABAD: Punjabi should be declared the official language at all departments in the Punjab, a resolution passed at the concluding ceremony of the Punjabi Sulaikh Mela (Punjabi Literary Festival) said late on Tuesday. The festival was organised by the Faisalabad Arts Council (FAC) in collaboration with Lok Sujag and Qaqanass Organisation. FAC Resident Director Tariq Javaid said that the Faisalabad Arts Council would make the literary festival an annual event. He said they would hold it on February 15 and 16 every year. “The festival will help promote Punjabi language, culture, literature and civilisation.” Javaid stressed the need for the promotion of Punjabi literature and mainstreaming of Punjabi publications. “It is our mother tongue.”
