ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) chief has demanded provision of funds for construction of the council’s buildings and setting up libraries in the federal as well as provincial capitals.

In a letter to the prime minister, PBC vice-chairman Barrister Farogh Naseem on Monday impressed upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to allot plots and release adequate funds to the council so that buildings and libraries be constructed at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.

The senator has also called upon the prime minister to provide grants to the council so that independent funds could be created for the legal aid of the poor litigants, old, sick and unemployed lawyers.

He warned that if the funds are not provided to the council it will file a petition in the Supreme Court under Article 184 (3) of Constitution.
