Nowshera police: Cop arrested for being Afghan national
Police has registered an FIR against Mehmood for attempting to steal government property

A policeman who was working as a naib at the local court was arrested on Sunday over accusations that he was an Afghan national. The incident occurred in Azakhel, Nowshera. Police said the accused was an Afghan national and was working as a naib in the court of Judge Shiraz Tariq for the last eight years. Officers said the suspect was nabbed after his nationality was confirmed by the police. An FIR has been registered. Meanwhile, the Azakhel police booked a cop for not returning service weapons. Qasim Mehmood served as a law-enforcement officer at Azakhel police station for five years. During his tenure, he was provided two Kalashnikovs as well as magazines for work, said an Azakhel policeman. In 2015, Mehmood was transferred to Karak district but he failed to return the weapons despite getting reminders.
