With the hope of establishing a new campus for academics, the COMSATS institute of information technology Wah has geared up to introduce new disciplines, offering master degrees in engineering and management sciences to meet the growing demand.
“In a short span of time this institute has rapidly turned into a fully-fledged university, encompassing a diverse range of academic disciplines to meet the industries demands,” COMSATS institute of information technology Wah Director Dr Tayyeb Akram while talking to newsmen here on Friday.
“That is what we are aiming for on the Wah campus,” he said adding that the institute has moved from being just an IT educate to an institute offering degrees in social sciences and other disciplines. He said that the institute has put in place all necessary arrangements from faculty to laboratories to launch MS in civil engineering and PhD in management sciences.
As demand grows for professionals with an understanding of diverse disciplines – something a global challenge for all academic institutions – there is an urgent need to create multidimensional people. “Traditionally, interests of students are narrowed down as they specialize – a practice that runs contrary to the global challenges we face,” he said.
