The march was led by representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, the Pakistan Peoples Party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Q and the Jamaat-i-Islami.

Leader of Opposition Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed and 20 other lawmakers had staged a walkout from the Provincial Assembly session at noon.

Rasheed congratulated the opposition parties for setting aside political differences to highlight problems caused by the Orange Line Metro Train project.

“This issue must immediately be brought in the assembly to be debated upon,” he said. He said a day to debate this issue should be scheduled soon.

He said the government should reveal conditions under which the loan for the project had been received.

He said the route of the train should be changed to protect heritage sites. He said the government should reassure the public that funds from other development projects were not being diverted to the Orange Line project.
