Khan, a cost and management accountant and a certified corporate secretary, comes from a strong professional background having work experience of nearly 30 years in power sector in the Middle East, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
He has expertise in power plant development and has operated large-scale power plants in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
He has remained the chief executive officer for 13 years with the second largest power producer in Pakistan. He has also been associated with the largest independent power producer in the world, AES US Corporation, for 17 years in various senior capacities.
In order to have professional management with broader experience, the board of directors of Nandipur Thermal Power Generation Company Limited initiated the CEO hiring process from the market.
After finalising the job description and eligibility criteria, it published advertisements in newspapers.
In response, 31 applications were received. After preliminary screening, 24 candidates were selected and based on the evaluation criteria, eight were shortlisted for interview.
The board, according to Section 5(2) of the Public Sector Companies (Corporate Governance) Rules 2013, after its meeting on December 11, 2015 sent three names for consideration for the post of chief executive officer.
