IHC roundup: Two more CDA officials held in katchi abadi case

Around 42 officials have been booked in the case

ISLAMABAD:

Two Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials were taken into custody from court premises on Thursday following the dismissal of their pre-arrest bail applications in a case pertaining to illegal settlements in the capital.

CDA assistant director Babar Maqsood, and enforcement inspector Babar Sohail were arrested after Central Special Judge Malik Nazir Ahmed dismissed their pre-arrest bail.

Subsequently, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials took them in custody.

Previously, the court had declared 15 CDA officials proclaimed offenders in connection with facilitating the establishment of the city’s fastest growing irregular settlement at a green belt between sectors H-9 and H-10.

While allowing the application, the court had directed the FIA to initiate proceedings against the CDA officials for absconding after the FIA informed the court that they were unable to execute the warrants issued earlier by the same court.

Around 42 officials have been booked in the case.
