Designer Adnan Pardesy is challenged with some of our craziest questions

February 07, 2016

Designer Adnan Pardesy is challenged with some of our craziest questions. He would like to be a home-baked cookie, has gone six days without a shower and has a thing for pink socks!

1. If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and what would you say to them?

I would love to meet General Mao. His vision fascinates me. Its amazing how one man’s vision changed the course of a nation. Though the atrocities committed by him are appalling, if one analyses the advancement of China today, he has been clearly beneficial for the country. The Chinese have come out on top without a doubt. I’m sure I wont be able to ask him anything of consequence, but even if I could observe him, it would answer a lot of my questions.

2. If you were a biscuit, which would you be?

I would definitely be a home-baked chocolate-chip cookie. No matter how modern the recipe, I would like to be made with age-old traditional methods and would prefer to be consumed by a connoisseur of finer things. True to my profession, I would like to be made-to-order, and not be neglected, lying around on some supermarket shelf.

3. What is your favourite colour of socks to wear?

I love wearing pink socks!

4. What’s the longest you’ve gone without a shower?

I think six days. This is back in college, when I was writing my thesis. I know it’s disgusting, but that was a very stressful time for me.

5. Tell us about something you really regret?

I don’t believe in having any regrets. I have made mistakes in my life and have always taken responsibility for my actions. I am sure if I had made some different decisions in my life, they might have taken me in a different direction, but I know I would not have wanted that. I believe I am a very boring person, but I have led a wonderful life.

6. What do you think would be the hardest thing for you to give up on?

Smoking! It is one of my vices, but I have always loved smoking, it’s something I am quite certain that I am incapable of ever quitting.

7. Which is your favourite part of the human face and why?

The nose. I tend to form my opinion about someone based on how crooked or straight his or her nose is. As psychotic as it sounds, it matters to me a lot.

8. One word you use too much?

I use the phrase “as simple as that” too often.

9. If your life were a movie what would the title be?

Godfather.

10. A movie that made you laugh the hardest?

I think Govinda’s movies are the best! They make no sense and that is what entertainment is all about, comedy should be completely mindless.

11. What makes you bored?

Workwise, I think repetition bores me the most. If I can’t think of something new, or do something new, it depresses me. As a fraternity, we tend to talk about people too often, rather than discuss ideas or a vision. I wish we could change that, as it has become so boring and redundant.

12. Best fashion secret you ever learned?

When in doubt, wear black.

13. What do you wear when you need to relax?

A tank top and shorts is what I usually wear when I need to relax, though once in a while I’ll wear a lungi!

14. What dish can you cook the best?

I think I can cook Khao Suey very well.

15. Your biggest goal for 2016?

I just want to stay in the happy place that I am in right now.
