
He said in order to maintain an uninterruptible power supply, the consumers should conserve energy, so that they would not face inconvenience. He said that we can overcome the current energy crisis through the cooperation of the consumers.
Pesco is currently facing a 640 mw shortage of electricity and five to eight hours load shedding is being carried out in the province. Pesco is taking all possible steps to overcome the energy crisis, he added. However, he requested to conserve energy by means of less consumption, particularly during the peak hours of usage i.e from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Pesco also requests all commercial consumers to close all shopping areas before 8.00 pm and switch off the streetlights. All the billboards must be switched off.
The domestic consumers are requested to use energy savers and tube lights instead of bulbs and iron their clothes in the daytime to
converse energy.
The tube well operators are also requested to operate the tube wells according to the power load shedding schedule. Sometimes, the distribution system is badly overloaded and to avoid damages, the NPCC (National Power Construction Company) has to carry out forced load shedding in addition to routine load shedding. If the consumers follow the Pesco instructions they can save energy, cutting down on their electricity bills.
