Measles outbreak : Two children die in Shikarpur

However, Farooqui denied reports of the deaths caused due to measles

Two children reportedly died of measles in Garhi Tegho village of Khanpur taluka district in Shikarpur on Monday, but health authorities are not ready to admit the casualties.


According to reports, measles outbreak was reported in some villages of Khanpur. Two children, one-year-old Arbeli, daughter of Rehmatullah Naseerani, and two-and-a-half-year-old Sunil, son of Bashir Oad, died of measles on Monday.


Besides, around 10 children are suffering from the disease in nearby villages.


When contacted, Shikarpur district health officer Dr Imtiaz Farooqui said he dispatched a team of doctors to the area. He added the vaccinators have been asked to visit the villages and vaccinate children.


However, Farooqui denied reports of the deaths caused due to measles.
