ISLAMABAD:

President Mamnoon Hussain has called for better analysis of the factors that contribute to extremism and militancy so that effective steps could be taken to counter them in the future.

“I warn terrorists, their sponsors and facilitators to have no doubt that the nation and the armed forces will not rest till the elimination of the last terrorist from our soil,” the president said at a National University of Science and Technology (NUST) convocation on Wednesday.

Hussain said that the nation and the armed forces were fully capable of countering internal and external challenges including the menace of terrorism.

The convocation was held to award bachelor of military arts and sciences degrees to cadets from Pakistan Military Academy’s 126th and 127th batches, and also to the students of the NUST Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies.

The president said that success against terrorism has been achieved to a great extent and the credit goes to the people and the armed forces for their immense sacrifices for the country.

He said terrorism has taken strong roots in society over the decades, and it was important that young officers and soldiers of armed forces should be trained to counter modern security challenges.
