ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Railways has taken disciplinary action against 199 employees aimed at improving the performance of the state-owned entity. “A total of 199 employees were taken up under the Efficiency and Disciplinary rules, out of which 146 cases have been decided and punishments were awarded while remaining 53 inquiries are in process,” official sources in the Ministry of Railways said. They said a well-organised system of accountability was in place in Pakistan Railways through an independent cell called the Vigilance Cell to identify and curb corrupt elements and practices. The cell was working directly under the control of Ministry of Railway and is mandated to identify and investigate any corrupt elements or practices in the organisation, the sources added.
