KARACHI: Arch-rivals Pakistan and India will clash on February 27 in the fourth match of the Asia Cup T20, which is being staged in Bangladesh from February 24-March 6.

The two Asian powerhouses will lock horns at the same venue where they clashed two years ago in the World T20; at Mirpur’s Shere Bangla Stadium.

In the inaugural five-nation T20 event between teams from Asia, one qualifier will join the four fancied teams — hosts Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka — in the main round. The qualifying round, which begins from February 19-22 in Fatullah, will feature UAE, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Oman.

The clash with India will be Pakistan’s opening game in the tournament, with their next assignment seeing them being pitted against the qualifiers on Monday, February 29. The Men in Green will then take on the hosts on Wednesday, March 2, while their last match will be against Sri Lanka on Friday, March 4.

The final will be played on Sunday, March 6 and the entire tournament will be staged in Mirpur.

The tournament will provide an ideal opportunity for the competing teams to prepare for the World T20 in India, which begins from March 8. The main round of the prestigious tournament starts on March 15 with the high-octane Indo-Pak clash at Dharamsala on March 19.
