K-P junior players shine at South Asian Badminton Championship 2026
Umar Jahangir won a gold medal in the Under-23 mixed team event

Junior players from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa delivered an outstanding performance while representing Pakistan at the Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Championship 2026, winning multiple medals and bringing pride to the province.
K-P players including Qari Muhammad Umer secured gold medals in Under-19 boys’ singles and doubles, along with a silver medal in mixed doubles. Similarly, Fahad Ahmad won gold medals in Under-19 doubles and mixed doubles, showcasing remarkable performance. Hashir Shah claimed a silver medal in Under-19 doubles, along with bronze medals in singles and mixed doubles.
By the same token, Umar Jahangir won a gold medal in the Under-23 mixed team event, while Hasnain Khan secured silver medals in Under-16 boys’ singles and doubles, and a bronze medal in mixed doubles.
General Secretary of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Association, Mian Sadaqat Shah, congratulated the players, coaches, and officials on this remarkable success. He stated that these achievements are not only the result of the players’ hard work but also reflect ongoing efforts to promote sports in the province. He expressed special thanks to Advisor to the Chief Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Tarand and DG Sports Tashfeen Haider for their continued support.
He further added that this success is a milestone for the Directorate General of Sports K-P’s badminton academy, especially crediting coach Hayatullah for his dedication in training players at a high level. He also acknowledged the contributions of K-P Badminton Association officials Bilal Khan and Yahya Khan.
Mian Sadaqat Shah termed the achievement a matter of great pride for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and expressed hope that players will continue to bring laurels to the country. He added that the Under-23 events are still in progress, while the closing ceremony of the championship will be held on April 7.
