Assistant Commissioner Cantt Dr Satish on Monday imposed Rs40,000 fine on fruit shopkeepers in the Saddar area for not displaying rate lists at their stalls. She warned that stern action will be taken against shopkeepers involved in overcharging customers and avoiding displaying government approved rate lists at prominent places at their shops. She also said legal action would be taken against violators under the Punjab Consumer Act, which also has a provision to seal such businesses in the interest of the public.
