LAHORE:

Attendants of patients admitted at the Lahore General Hospital will now require a security card to enter the concerned ward during the visiting hours. This was decided under a new security plan devised for the hospital at a meeting chaired by Post-Graduate Medical Institute principal Prof Khalid Mahmood on Sunday.

The new security plan prohibits those staying at the hospital’s hostels from inviting personal guests to stay with them overnight. It says parking of visitors’ vehicles at hospital’s parking lots would not be allowed beyond specified hours. The plan also suggests that the number of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the hospital premises be increased.

The staff is required under the new plan to display their identity cards during duty hours. Duty nurses are directed to maintain record of all visitors.

Prof Mahmood said security personnel should remain alert during work hours and asked them to prevent unnecessary use of hospital’s parking lots by private vehicles.

He ordered verification of credentials of all contractual employees at the hospital from the authorities concerned. He also asked the administration to keep the police updated on the details of all such workers. He said round-the-clock patrolling of the hospital premises by police personnel would be ensured.
