Batsmen score half-tons to guide team to 110-run win

Skipper Zeeshan Malik and wicketkeeper Umair Masood scored half-centuries as Pakistan U19 defeated their Nepalese counterparts by 110 runs in their U19 World Cup warm-up match in Savar, Bangladesh on Saturday.

Batting first, Pakistan were given a strong start by Zeeshan, who top-scored with an 85-ball 83 with two sixes and 12 boundaries, and Mohammad Umar, who made 31 off 46, as the duo combined to make 79.

The steady start enabled the following batsmen to play freely and make 291-7.

Hasan Mohsin slammed a quick-fire 37, while Umair struck 59 off 36 balls. Sandeep Lamichhane claimed three wickets while Sushil Kandel and Prem Tamang got two scalps each.


In reply, Nepal could only manage 181-9 after losing early wickets.

Dipendra Singh made a 40-ball 42 with three sixes and as many boundaries while Aarif Sheikh chipped in with 35. The quartet of Sameen Gul, Saif Ali, Shadab Khan and Arsal Sheikh bagged two wickets apiece.

U19 Cricket World Cup: 16 teams finalised for Bangladesh event

Pakistan will now take on India on Monday in a warm-up match before facing Afghanistan in a Group B encounter on Thursday.
