Fake fir: Court rejects SHO’s apology

The labourers were released by the court after it was established that the case against them was baseless

RAWALPINDI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday charged Station House Officer (SHO) Waris Khan Police Station and an investigation officer on the charge of registering a fake case against two labourers. ATC Judge Asif Majeed Awan also rejected the unconditional apology tendered by SHO Inspector Abid Mehmood and the investigation officer in the case. The two officials admitted to registering the fake FIR after taking a bribe from the labourers’ former employer, who was angry at them for leaving his shop to work for some other employer. The police had fraudulently booked the men in a kidnapping for ransom case. The labourers were released by the court after it was established that the case against them was baseless.
