NEW DELHI: Actor Nimrat Kaur — who shot to fame through internationally-acclaimed roles in the Bollywood hit The Lunchbox and American political drama Homeland — spoke about how her time in showbiz has mostly been smooth sailing.  A face that originally found eminence through the world of advertisements, Nimrat started her tryst with acting from music videos.

“My journey in showbiz has been like a fairytale. It’s been a really interesting journey because of the unpredictability factor,” she said on Monday, at a press conference for her next film, Airlift. “You can’t plan your career when you are starting off. Whatever comes to you, you have to decide from it, whether to do it or not.”

Talking about the Raja Krishna Menon directorial, Nimrat stated, “I really consider myself very fortunate to be a part of this story. It’s a story that I didn’t know about. When I read the script, I didn’t know that this has happened and I was shocked about that.”

In the movie, which speaks about the evacuation of Kuwait-based Indians in 1990, Nimrat will be sharing the screen with actor Akshay Kumar. “I play the role of Ranjit Katyal’s wife, Amrita Katyal. She is a very outspoken person and not fearful of speaking her mind,” she shared.

About working with Akshay, Kaur was all praises for her co-star. “I was extremely excited to work with Akshay. He is someone whose work and choices I admire greatly,” she said.  Airlift will release on  January 22.
