KOTLI: The incumbent prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Abdul Majeed Khan and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were accused of poor performance and of opposing greater share of water for the valley.

Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed said on Monday that when the matter of allocating more water for AJK was raised in the Council of Common Interests (CCI), Majeed and Sindh’s Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had opposed the move.

Addressing a large convention for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers in Kotli on Monday, Rashid said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was currently striving to reconcile the differences between Saudi Arabia and Iran and that he would also work to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

He added that the government had allowed the PPP government to function and when a no-confidence motion was brought against the AJK premier, the top PML-N leadership advised its AJK leaders to distance themselves from the motion. Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Barjees Tahir flayed the PPP-led government for not doing anything to develop the valley.

“It (PPP) claimed to have executed development schemes worth over Rs5 billion, but nothing was visible on the ground,” Tahir said, adding that the sum was enough to develop the entire valley.

Some people, he said, were propagating the view that by pinpointing the corruption of the AJK government, the (Kashmir) freedom movement would be affected.

Special Assistant to the Prime Ministeron Political Affairs Dr Asif Kirmani told PML-N workers that PM Nawaz was highlighting the Kashmir issue at international for a.

He added that two federal ministers were not visiting AJK to seek votes, rather they were there to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

Kirmani lamented that the AJK premier had resorted to threatening him and the federal ministers visiting Kashmir.
