Tragic: Murder attempt and suicide

The two had later developed differences after which Ruqaiya returned to live with her parents

A man shot and injured his brother’s father-in-law and then committed suicide in a Sahiwal police precinct on Sunday.

Police said Ruqaiya, daughter of Rab Nawaz, a resident of Hinduwan, Sahiwal tehsil, had married Muhammad Nasir a few months ago.

The two had later developed differences after which Ruqaiya returned to live with her parents. On Sunday, Nasir’s brother Imran went to meet Nawaz and Ruqaiya to sort out the matters. However, Nawaz reprimanded Imran and the two exchanged angry words.

Imran pulled out a gun and shot Nawaz and then shot himself. Nawaz was taken to a hospital for treatment. Doctors treating him said his condition was serious. The body was taken to a mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police said they had registered a case and started investigations.
