focus should be on development, professional management of industrial parks and economic zones.
ISLAMABAD:
Thai investors have been approached to help develop industrial parks and economic zones in major industrial hubs of Pakistan. In a meeting attended by the Ambassador of Thailand HE Marut, Board of Investment Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla said that focus should be on the development and professional management of industrial parks and economic zones. He added that the government aims to stimulate rapid industrial growth with the help of these projects. Mandviwalla mentioned the success of the country’s industrial parks, such as the 930-acre Bin Qasim Industrial Park in Karachi and the 174-acre Rachna Industrial Park in Lahore. He said that these industrial parks are incorporated core features of world-class industrial parks.
He further spoke about the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) policy which is aimed at giving preferential treatment to SEZs. The Thai delegation appreciated the incentives offered, which included exemption of levies on import of capital equipment and corporate income tax holidays of up to 10 years.
