PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and CM Pervez Khattak visited Makhniyal village of Haripur district on Saturday to oversee tree plantation by the environment department in collaboration with locals.

This was mentioned in a handout issued on the same day. During the visit, they were informed that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has planted 115 million saplings so far. On the occasion, the PTI chief and CM met a volunteer forest guard’s son. The guard was killed by timber mafia who wanted to cut trees in the areas.

The CM announced compensation for the family and assured bonus for employees of the environment department for the successful implementation of the Billion Tree Tsunami project.

Imran and Khattak also set free some eagles that were confiscated from smugglers by the wildlife department.
