Passing on: Shah Rukh Khan’s aunt dies in Peshawar

Suriya Begum lived in a dilapidated four-storey house situated in Shah Wali Qatal

The paternal aunt of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Suriya Begum, passed away in the city on Saturday. She was 68 years old.


According to her daughter Noor Jahan “Munni”, her mother had been waiting for Shah Rukh Khan to visit her for a long time.

Munni added Begum had been suffering from a kidney disease for the last several years.

However, in 2015, her condition deteriorated and finally took her life. She was laid to rest at her ancestral graveyard near Lekha Darzwa in Kohati area of the city. She left behind three sons and as many daughters.

Suriya Begum lived in a dilapidated four-storey house situated in Shah Wali Qatal in the walled city of Peshawar.

The actor’s father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, also lived in Shah Wali Qatal. His paternal family still lives in the area.

Suriya Begum was the daughter of the Muhammad Gama, the elder brother of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh’s father Meer Taj Muhmmad, The Express Tribune learnt.

syedpk | 8 years ago | Reply Correct me if i am wrong. The daughter of the brother of his father, means she was her cousin not aunt. Or did i miss something here ?
