Addressing the ceremony, Hassaan said that provision of model pushcarts was part of the chief minister’s vision to beautify the city. Commissioner Sumbal said he hoped that model pushcarts would prove a step in the right direction to beautify the city. “The project will help improve the ‘cart culture’ in Lahore,” the commissioner said.
He said that in the next two months, nearly 150 pushcarts would be provided to vendors in various bazaars. He said the authorities concerned would make sure that items sold on such carts were available at rates fixed by the government. In the next phase, the commissioner said, pushcarts would be distributed in collaboration with Akhuwwat that would offer interest-free loans for the purpose.
