PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has cancelled the party membership of two provincial organisers over charges of forming a coalition with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the local government elections.

A handout issued by PTI’s provincial secretariat on Monday stated the memberships of Upper Dir organisers Malik Fakhar Hayat Khan and engineer Ishaq Khattak were cancelled on the directives of PTI chief Imran Khan.

The two allegedly formed a coalition with PML-N during the LG polls in Khal tehsil of Upper Dir. The organisers were issued show-cause notices by the provincial leadership and asked to clarify their position. However, they failed to provide a satisfactory reply.

Orientation Sessions

Meanwhile, PTI will hold orientation sessions on January 14 throughout K-P in which district coordinators will brief workers on the membership process. The memberships will be opened on a trial basis from 2:30pm to 5pm.

PTI coordinator Zafarullah Khan said the district coordinators will be responsible for monitoring the membership process in their respective areas, whereas the orientation session for Peshawar district will be held in the party’s provincial secretariat. He mentioned that membership on a regular basis will be opened by the PTI chairman after January 14.

The PTI coordinator clarified that all MPAs and ministers, including party office-bearers and regional coordinators, will also attend the orientation sessions.
