Consent : ‘My daughter’s suitor is bullying me’
She asked the court to direct the SHO to register an FIR
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday sought comments from the Shahdra SHO on a petition moved by a woman seeking a case against a man who she said was pressuring her to agree to marry her daughter off to him. Petitioner Sobia Shaheen told the court that her daughter was an intermediate student and was too young to marry. “I want her to finish her education before she gets married,” she said in her petition. She said Malik Munawir and an unidentified armed accomplice had broken into her house and had demanded her daughter’s hand. She said her daughter had refused. Shaheen told the court that the men had then slapped her daughter and used abusive language. She said the men had also tried to abduct her daughter but were unable to get away. She told the court that the man was threatening to kill her unless she agreed to the proposal. She said she had approached the police about this but they had not taken her seriously. She asked the court to direct the SHO to register an FIR.
