Walking through a cloud of perfume is just not enough. There a lot of do's and don'ts for making your perfume or cologne last longer.
5 tips to choose your signature scent
In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, fragrance expert Patti Kapla revealed basic guidelines for the right application. Here are four tips on how to make your scent last longer:
1. Best time to apply fragrance
Always apply your fragrance after moisturising your skin. Gently dry your skin after a shower, apply lotion and spray the scent of your choice. The moisturiser serves as a base to hold the fragrance.
2. Use matching shower gels and body lotions
It's easier to make your fragrance last longer by using similar smelling shower gels and body lotions. "Using the shower gel, soap, shampoo, etc of your favourite fragrance will help make your fragrance last all day long! If you don't have the matching lotions offered with your scent, try applying Vaseline or a non-scented moisturizer to your pulse points before you apply your fragrance," advises Patti.

3. Avoid rubbing your wrists together
Patti warns against the habit of rubbing wrists together. "You 'break up' the top notes, which are the lightest," she explains.
4. Try the hairbrush trick
Spray some scent onto a brush and stroke it through your hair for a lasting impression."Fragrance sprayed directly onto your hair may cause [your hair] to dry out," said Patti.
