Chief selector labels 'extraordinary' Amir better than the others

Chief selector believes that the left-armer can become a fast-bowling all-rounder,

Chief selector Haroon Rashid said that Muhammad Amir can become a fast-bowling all-rounder, which Pakistan need at the moment.

“With Amir, it's not just his bowling but his all-round ability,” said Haroon. “He is good fielder and can bat with surety. Had he [Amir] kept on playing in last five years, he could have been developed into an established all-rounder.

We have received clearance on Amir’s selection, says Haroon

Haroon also felt the current players need to work on their all-round game. “I don't want to point to anyone, but we need our players to cover all the three dimensions of the game."

The chief selector went on to say that the selection committee is not undermining upcoming players playing in the domestic circuit, but there is a difference between normal and extraordinary player.

PCB rejects Azhar Ali's resignation over differences with Amir

“"We are not undermining other players and forcing him [back], but there is always a difference between normal and extraordinary players," he said of Amir. “As a selector what we see are the overall abilities, skills, form, fitness and performances. This is all we have taken into account before considering him for the New Zealand tour. He is still better than most of those who played in the last five years.”
