Public health: Children Hospital being upgraded

The DCO said the hospital was the second-largest facility of its kind in Asia

DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said on Wednesday that work had been initiated to upgrade the city’s Children Hospital to the status of an institute of child health.



Mengal made the remarks while chairing a meeting. The DCO said the hospital was the second-largest facility of its kind in Asia. He said it accommodated 1,000 beds. He said the hospital would facilitate state-of-the-art treatment to the sick following the upgrade. Mengal said 20 departments including medicine, surgery, gastroenterology, hepatology, neonatology, endrocarnology, cardiology, dermatology, neurology, psychology, paleontology, neurosurgery, general surgery, Orthopedic, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, autolerneology, urology and dentistry among others would be established at the hospital in the wake of the upgrade.


The DCO said gifted and experienced doctors would be recruited at the facility to facilitate the provision of best treatment. He said they would also be tasked with honing the skills of their juniors.
