Over A Million Yards: NAB arrests patwari, tehsildar

NAB also filed a corruption reference against four persons for misappropriation of forest royalty

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau arrested a tehsildar and a patwari on the charges of allegedly selling and transferring government property worth millions in DI Khan to others. The officials identified as tehsildar Abdur Rasheed and patwari Hussain were accused of misusing their authority, and selling and transferring 1,195,480 yards of land to an influential family. NAB arrested the suspects after completing initial investigation and will produce the suspects before the court to get their physical custody. Former provincial minister Mureed Kazim has already been arrested in this case. NAB also filed a corruption reference against four persons for misappropriation of forest royalty. The suspects, identified as Khalid Pervez, Noor Shahid, Rahmat Karim and Muhammad Khan, were accused of embezzling Rs70 million with the help of officials from the forest department.
