Keeping promises: LHWs to get salaries according to basic pay scales

There are around 12,000 lady health workers who will receive Rs14,084 (BPS-5) each

Lady health workers (LHW) will finally receive salaries according to relevant pay scales. Talking to The Express Tribune on Monday, health officials said the provincial government has already released Rs420 million out of Rs840million that has been allocated to provide salaries to LHWs. LHW provincial programme coordinator Dr Faheem Hussain Khan said the enhanced salaries will be issued in December to around 14,416 workers. He added a summary with expenditure details has been sent and will be approved soon. There are around 12,000 lady health workers who will receive Rs14,084 (BPS-5) each and around 560 lady health supervisors who will receive Rs17,000 (BPS-7) each. The drivers will receive Rs12,000 (BPS-4) each and accounts supervisers will receive Rs17,000 (BPS-7) each.


He added LHWs were the backbone of health department, and schedule for new expenditures for pay scales and service structures was moved to the finance department.
