Tax collection: ‘Tax defaulters should pay up this month’

Overall, the department recovered Rs900 million from Faisalabad

Excise and Taxation Department Director Saeed Ahmad said on Saturday that the department had recovered Rs1 billion in taxes during the current fiscal year from Faisalabad division.


 “So far, 47 per cent of the annual tax recovery target has been achieved,” he said.


Saeed said the department had recovered Rs640 million in property tax and Rs360 million in token tax and vehicles registration.


“The ETD has also recovered Rs33 million in excise fees, Rs8.2 million in recreational tax, Rs36 million in professional tax and Rs8.4 million under cotton fee,” he added.


Overall, the department recovered Rs900 million from Faisalabad, Rs77.3 million from Toba Tek Singh, Rs66 million from Jhang and Rs4.05 million from Chiniot.


He said the department had issued notices to defaulters of property tax.


He said their properties would be sealed if they failed to pay the tax by the end of the month.
