Crackdown: Two drug smugglers arrested in Jamrud

At least two alleged drug smugglers were arrested in Jamrud tehsil, Khyber Agency on Friday. The arrests were made during a search operation launched by the khasadar force to clamp down on drug peddlers. According to a khasadar official, a vehicle was flagged down in Lala Kandao. “Around 146 kilogrammes of hashish were confiscated from it,” he said. “Muhammad Ameen, the driver of the vehicle, was trying to smuggle drugs to other parts of the country.” Meanwhile, another drug peddler was taken into custody for smuggling 19 kilogrammes of hashish from Jamrud to other parts of the province. The accused has been identified as Khalil Noor. He is currently being interrogated. Speaking to the media, Jamrud political tehsildar Asmatullah Wazir said the search operation was conducted on an intelligence tip-off received earlier in the day. “Action will be taken against all drug suppliers,” he added.
