Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Azam, Adil lead UBL’s bowling attack

Duo snap up four NBP wickets each on day two of Super Eight stage

KARACHI: Hammad Azam and Ehsan Adil’s joint bowling attack helped UBL restrict NBP to a low first-innings total on the second day of their Super Eight fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the UBL Ground in Karachi on Tuesday.

NBP managed just 148 runs in their first innings as Azam and Adil took four wickets each, giving away 37 and 43 runs respectively, while Faheem Ashraf (44) and Akbar Rehman (33) were the highest scorers from NBP.

Earlier, UBL had resumed their first innings on 228-7 and added 40 runs before being dismissed as NBP’s Muhammad Asghar and Ahmed Jamal bagged five and three scalps respectively. At the close of play, UBL were batting on 60-3 with a 140-run lead.

Meanwhile, Raza Ali Dar scored 133 to add a third century for Lahore Blues after Agha Salman (115) and Haris Nazar (103) to take their first-innings total to 511 runs in 159.3 overs at the NBP Stadium.

Wapda’s Naseer Akram took four wickets along with Haziq Habibullah and Zulfiqar Babar, who claimed two scalps each. At stumps, Wapda were batting on 17-1 after 14 overs.

In the match between KRL and SNGPL at the National Stadium of Karachi, Naeemuddin delivered an unbeaten ton (102) while Umar Akmal made 66 to take SNGPL’s first-innings score to 337-7. Muhammad Abbas, Sadaf Hussain and Rahat Ali picked up two wickets each for KRL.

At the Niaz Stadium  in Hyderabad, Karachi Whites resumed their first innings on 242-4 and were bundled out for 269 as Adnan Ghaus took six wickets with Rajesh Remesh bagging four.

At the end of play, SSGC were batting on 214-4 with Awais Zia (85) and Asif Zakir (66) on the crease.
