Model prison: Interior ministry seeks funds
The prison will have the capacity to house over 2,000 prisoners.

The Interior Ministry has demanded an initial amount of Rs4,530 million for the construction of a model prison in the Islamabad Capital Territory. The proposal is under consideration, an official said, adding that the PC-I for the project has been forwarded to the Ministry of Planning and Development, seeking approval. The Interior Ministry has already purchased 720 kanals of land from the Capital Development Authority for this purpose in sector H-16, the official added. The prison will have the capacity to house over 2,000 prisoners. A boundary wall to secure the area from encroachments has already been constructed by the Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD).
